Grant applications for the 2017 Spring round are due April 7, 2017.

Grant Guidelines

During the Spring  and Fall semesters of each school year, the Granville Education Foundation (GEF) accepts grant applications from teachers and staff of the Granville Schools. The purpose of these grants is to fund innovative projects that enhance and enrich classroom instruction, but, for a variety of reasons, are unable to be funded through the district's budget.

The grant applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of several trustees of the GEF and one or more community members.  After careful review, the grant committee makes its recommendations to the full GEF Board, which then votes on each proposed grant. Teachers are notified of the decisions. Those approved have two semesters to use the funds.

Several organizations affiliated with our schools offer funding for projects.   GEF has compiled a Resource Guide with a summary of partner organization's missions and funding initiatives.

TYPES OF GRANTS  (Grant Form)

  1. Teacher Grants (for use by one or more teachers, awards up to $3,000)
Used to enhance, promote, and augment classroom instruction in areas not allotted for in regular budgetary funding or eligible for reimbursement from tax funding.  Teacher grants are typically awarded between $250 and $3000, but, if exceptional projects exist, additional funding can occur.  Each application must be signed by the building principal (and the District Technology Coordinator if it contains a technology component), completed fully with an explanation of the specific need, and submitted by the given deadline.  The application can also include any supplemental information pertinent to the project or endorsements of the project by fellow teachers, etc.  Once the application is reviewed, one may be contacted to answer additional questions by the committee.

  2. School Site Grants (for use by departments or teachers and administrators with multiple grade levels, awards up to $5,000)
Allow staff on each campus to identify and address needs, challenges, or concerns that are unique to the site. The identified area should reflect the school’s mission statement.  Site Grants are typically awarded between $1,000 and $5,000, but, if exceptional projects exist, additional funding can occur.  Each application must be signed by the district superintendent (and the District Technology Coordinator if it has a technology component), completed fully with an explanation of the specific need, and submitted by the given deadline.  The application can also include any supplemental information pertinent to the project or endorsements of the project by fellow teachers, etc.  Once the application is reviewed, one may be contacted to answer additional questions by the committee.

  3. Interim Grants (for use by GEVSD staff as need arises or a donor's specification)   Interim grants may be used for small projects and may be funded up to $500.   Grants may be submitted at any time.  Each grant will be reviewed at the following Granville Education Foundation board meeting.
