MISSION AND PURPOSE

The Mission of the Granville Education Foundation (GEF) is to enrich and enhance the quality of life in our community by building and maintaining stewardship of a community trust to provide funding for superior, innovative, educational programs that exceed our District's financial resources.

GEF collects charitable contributions from donors like you and through a biannual grant process provides these funds to teachers, staff members, and administrators in the Granville Exempted Village School District (GEVSD).  In addition to this work, we administer four scholarships for graduating seniors and the annual recognition of a community-selected teacher for the Jody VanTine Outstanding Educator Award.

COMMITTEES

We are a fully volunteer organization that relies on community members who desire to further the mission of the GEF. Board vacancies are announced through district-wide and public (e.g. social media, newspaper) communications. New members are typically solicited annually. Board members are expected to serve on two Committees, descriptions of which can be found here.

HISTORY

The Granville Educational Foundation was officially established in 1994 by local business and community leaders, with the approval of the Granville Board of Education, as an independent, non-profit organization. A volunteer Board of Trustees was appointed to conduct the business of the Foundation.

Its original name, "The Granville Schools Charitable Foundation," was changed in 1998 to "The Granville Schools Education Foundation" and once again in 2001 to "The Granville Education Foundation."
